Position Summary:
Owatonna's Early Childhood Family Education Program (ECFE) is seeking an early childhood educator to provide high quality early learning through delivery of evidence-based curriculum, instruction and asssessment.  This position has responsibilities to present weekly lessons designed to address identified needs of infants and toddlers using developmentally appropriate best practices within the MN/Owatonna Early Childhood Indicators of Progress. This position supports families, colleagues, and community partners with experiences and information designed to promote healthy parent/child interaction and child and family development.This position delivers early childhood learning experiences to children ages 0-35 months and their families. The primary learning environment is small groups of infant and toddler-age children with their parents. This is a split-shift assignment, with morning classes 4 days a week (Tuesday-Friday, 8:30AM-12:00PM) and Monday and Tuesday evenings from 5:15PM-7:00PM.  ECFE classes meet from September 12, 2017 through May 18, 2018 for a total of 31-weeks of programming. Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood and family education and/or child development, early childhood education or related field; Minnesota license in Early Childhood (birth to five years); Birth-Grade 3 license preferred; strong knowledge of child development from birth to age five; experience working with children and families from diverse cultural, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds; documented experience in the application of MN Early Childhood Indicators of Progress; demonstrated use of research-based strategies and approaches to ensure all learners achieve at the highest levels; Experience in utilizing an inquiry approach to instruction; current first aid and CPR certificate, or willingness to obtain within first eight-weeks of employment.

Desired qualification include:
- Successful teaching experience in developing, modifying and implementing curriculum and learning environments for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and parents of children birth to five years old;
- Experience with teaming/collaborating with others in educating young children and supporting families;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal, written and digital communication;
- Good organizational skills
- Dual licensure in Parent Education and Early Childhood/ECFE
- Bilingual

Position Requirements: 
Successful experience in partnering with families in a professional capacity.  Successful applicant must have ability to work as a contributing team member in a culture of excellence to deliver programs that address the positive development of children and families in diverse populations. This position requires schedule flexibility and availability for two evenings per week from 5:15-7:00 PM. 

Approximate 0.47 FTE beginning August 28, 2017.  Approximately 20-hours per week for 31-weeks.  Core assignment includes10 ECFE Parent/Child classes.  PLC, New Staff Orientation, EC Staff Meetings and CE All-Staff Meetings, and Trimester Workdays provide additional hours to this assignment resulting in an increased FTE.  Additional assignment options are available to backfill open slots in the early childhood program, including school readiness, early childhood screening and community-based outreach partnerships, also resulting in an increased FTE.
