Position Summary:
This School Readiness Educator position delivers one section of School Readiness in a 34 week model.  There are 123 student contact days, with additional days for parent/teacher conferences, student orientation, selection, and staff work days and professional development days. School Readiness provides a developmentally appropriate environment that stimulates student development and mastery using the Early Childhood Indicators of Progress for cognitive, social/emotional, language, literacy and physical/motor development of 4-year-olds.  Each sections meets for 2.5 hours, 4 days per week.  School Readiness is an inclusive educational setting serving 16 students.  Copies of program calendar and class schedules are available upon request. The successful candidate will also work with a classroom program assistant to create a warm and welcoming environment for children, their families and professional colleagues. 

Qualifications:
A valid Minnesota teaching license in early childhood , with a 3-5 Pre-K endorsement is required. Training and background in 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Continuous Improvement, and MN Early Childhood Indicators of Progress required.  Required curriculum experience includes Read, Play and Learn, Everyday Math, Visual Phonics. Second-Step and SMART.  Successful experience using Work Sampling, RTI and IGDI's preferred. Bi-lingual skills in Spanish or Somali desired.  Demonstrated use of research-based practices and approaches to ensure all learners achieve at the highest levels also required.  Current first aid and CPR certificate, or willingness to obtain within first eight-weeks of employment. A candidate with Montessori preschool experience or interest would be welcomed and preferred. 

Position Requirements:  
Successful 2 years of experience in partnering with preschool families around preparing young children for school readiness.  Successful candidate must demonstrate ability to work as a team member in a culture of excellence to deliver programs that address the positive development of children and families in diverse populations.  Demonstrated communication and organizational skills required.

FTE/Schedule:
0.40 FTE beginning August 28, 2017 and ending June 1, 2019.  This is a two-year assignment due to current funding availability. Estimated teacher report time 12:15 PM - 3:15 PM, 4-days per week.  Biweekly staff meetings and PLC attendance required.  Additional FTE eligible hours available if successful candidate is open to extending assignment to Early Childhood Screening and Early Childhood Family Education programs.
