Job Summary

Job Summary

To serve the Perpich Center as the primary professional specialist/coordinator in the area of theater education.  To provide visionary arts leadership in theater education statewide to teachers, teaching artists, schools, arts organizations, and administrators to improve student achievement for all Minnesota students through arts education. Regularly assess needs of theater educators and develop resources, tools, products and workshops to help meet identified needs. Serve as a consultant on the Minnesota Academic Standards and assist with curriculum and assessment development to meet state and district requirements.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in theater or another education related field 

 Four years of experience in the field of theater education (experience in an education related field may substitute for one year of experience).

Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development and development of instructional materials in theater for K-12 educational arenas.

Success as facilitator/coach of teacher and administrator learning In a variety of settings including large groups, small groups and with individual teachers.

Proven ability to plan, coordinate, and meet deadlines.  Proven ability to conceptualize as well as implement programs and services in diverse educational and artistic circumstances over a large geographic region.

Well-developed interpersonal and presentational communication skills.

Knowledge of the theory and practice of theater in education with an in-depth knowledge in educational research practices to positively affect arts education, integration, and general education.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Masters degree in theater education or closely related field.

Five years  or more of teaching experience in K-12 education.

Work history includes professional development leadership at school, district, higher education institution, or other arts or education organization.

Physical Requirements

Occasional lifting may be required.

Additional Requirements

**Successful candidate must pass employer reference checks and criminal history check**

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
