Position Overview
 
The successful candidate will be an individual who will ensure that kindergarten students have a meaningful, purposeful, and engaging learning experience that will support increased student achievement,  This candidate will be responsible for communicating effectively with parents, establishing positive rapport with students focused on personal growth as well as learning, and working collaboratively with colleagues while functioning as a member of the Spring Lake Park Schools staff.

Primary Responsibilities
Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:

  • Design learning experiences that are embedded in content areas and aligned specific kindergarten learning targets.
  • Design learning opportunities that are aligned with the identified SLP Academic, Career, and Life Skills.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, lecture, discovery, etc.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
  • Evaluate students' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records.
  • Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students' progress and interpret the school program.
  • Create and maintain an effective learning environment.
  • Maintain professional competence through ongoing professional development.
  • Supervise students in and out of the classroom during the school day as assigned. 

Preferences
We strongly prefer candidates who have exhibited excellence in collaboration with colleagues and an enthusiasm to work with students.  Preferred candidates will also have a demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning as evidenced by graduate-level work or an earned degree, as well as participation in professional organization conferences or seminars related to the content area.
 
Qualifications
 
The successful candidate must have earned a B.A. or B.S. degree and current Minnesota State Licensure in Elementary Education.  Additional demonstrated qualifications include:  commitment to the equitable education of all students; creative planning and organizational skills, and highly effective interpersonal skills. Previous experience working with elementary level students using differentiation, guided reading, and technology skills preferred.   Prefer candidate with experience working with diverse learners.

Licensing Requirements
Current Minnesota Elementary Education license or eligibility is required.
