General 

All employees and volunteers will work together to fulfill Eagle Ridge Academy’s mission statement and meet the goals and objectives as established in the Charter Application. The Director of Teaching and Learning is responsible for reviewing and enhancing curriculum, as well as developing professional development for all staff who implement this curriculum. The Director of Teaching and Learning is employed at-will and operates as a professional within the guidelines established by Eagle Ridge Academy and its Board of Directors. The Director of Teaching and Learning is accountable in the following areas of responsibility: 

Job Duties 

 

In adherence to Eagle Ridge Academy’s Classical trivium mission and philosophy, the Director of Teaching and Learning is expected to: 

  • Understand and adhere to the principles of Classical education  

  • Apply the principles of the trivium to his/her level position 

  • Support teachers in the development and delivery of the Classical trivium curriculum and sequence  

  • Exhibit loyalty to the Academy and its mission  

  • Develop the intellect of each student to the utmost of his/her ability  

  • Develop a personal character that is aligned to the Academy’s Pillars 

Plan and direct the District’s curriculum review process to ensure high-quality teaching strategies and alignment to Minnesota standards and Classical education 

  • Curriculum Instruction Student Achievement (CISA) facilitator 

  • Schedule, organize, and facilitate curriculum review process 

  • Designate resources to support necessary curriculum writing by licensed teachers 

  • Review and approve work of curriculum review teams to ensure high-quality curricula and alignment to Eagle Ridge Academy expectations and state standards 

  • Support teachers and principals during the implementation process of new curriculum  

  • Lead Comprehensive Achievement and Civic Readiness (CACR) 

 

Plan and direct the District’s professional development programs for licensed teaching staff 

  • Lead the Classical Coordinator in the implementation of the Classical Teacher Certificate Program (CTCP) 

  • Ensure all professional development (PD) is integrated 

  • Incorporate QComp into the overall PD plan 

  • Supervise coaches and mentor program 

  • Research, select, and facilitate appropriate professional training for buildings, departments, and/or grade levels to enhance Classical pedagogical practice 
     

Support building principals in the evaluation process of teaching staff 

  • Serve as a collaborator for principals during the evaluation process 

  • Conduct teaching-staff evaluations as directed by the Academic Director as requested by principals 

Facilitate and coordinate the services essential to the implementation of state and local student assessments 

  • Lead testing and assessment readiness team 

  • Work with principals to schedule assessments 

  • Support principals and teachers in data driven instruction (DDI) resources 

 

Other duties 

  • Attend professional development workshops, seminars, and training 

  • Lead projects 

  • Other duties as assigned 

 

 

Qualifications 

  • A master''s degree in educational leadership or similar 

  • A minimum of ten years’ experience in Classical education desired 

  • Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis

  • Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with students, parents, and school staff 

  • Models professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community 

  • Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, and coordinating 

  • A belief in Classical education 

  • Adheres to all policies and procedures in accordance with the Employee Handbook (i.e. dress code, hours of reporting, etc.) 

 


Work Environment

  • Typical work environment is an office setting
  • Occasional travel between school sites or events
  • Potential sedentary work for long periods of time
The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, and to stoop, kneel, or crouch. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision to read documents and computer monitor screen.

Salary: $94,291 - $120,645 - to be prorated for 2025-26
Job Type: This is a 0.40 FTE position for the 2025-2026 School year
