This position is part-time at .70 P.T.E. or 28hrs/week and is not benefits eligible. Employee hours are Mon-Tues 7:00am-3:00pm and Wed-Thur 7:00am-1:00pm. Media Specialist duties are typically two days per week (depending on coverage) with classroom substitute teaching the additional two days. Applicants must currently hold the appropriate MN Licensure and Library/Media experience is preferred. The Media Specialist/Librarian will manage a full library dedicated to elementary/middle school students in grades K-8. Library collection uses the Destiny Library Collection management software through Follett. Media Specialist responsibilities include (but not limited to): The overall educational and administrative operations of the library/media center, including but not limited to: Providing resources through a systematically developed collection within the school, assisting students in identifying, locating, and interpreting information housed in the library media centers, managing collection development and the acquisition of materials and resources, collaborating with teachers to teach information skills within the context of classroom curriculum, participate in division, department and grade-level curriculum design and assessment projects as appropriate, managing purchasing receipts and records to monitor budget expenditures against the media center's annual budget, eliminating materials which are worn, outdated or no longer used and other duties as assigned. Substitute teacher responsibilities include (but not limited to): Providing direct instruction and to facilitate learning for all students, teaching assigned grade classes/subjects using the plans set forth by the absent teacher, meeting the needs of each student through individual and group instruction, following all policies and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates, clear communication with both staff and students and contributing positively to the learning and development of students. If not in classroom, additional administrative, supervision or miscellaneous tasks and duties would be assigned. Experience with standards-based instruction, English Language Learners and common assessments a plus. As this position is part-time, salary will be pro-rated and adjusted as necessary. Salary is determined by experience and education, with the upcoming 2025-26 school year full-time licensed employee salaries ranging from $46,635.47 to $84,238.12.
