Reports To: Senior Director of Teaching and Learning
SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Senior Director of Teaching and Learning, the Assistant Director of Learning Analytics and Impact provides expertise in the interpretation of assessment data. Duties include providing assistance to staff in planning, implementing, and improving student assessment data systems and in providing data collection, analysis, and evaluation of educational studies to assist the District in educational planning and improvement processes. This position is responsible for providing expertise, support, and assistance with the state accountability process in the area of student standardized testing through coordinating testing processes, the preparation of testing assessment reports for the District and the State.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Reviews accountability data. Verifies, corrects, and submits corrections.
* Review preliminary MCA proficiency data with administrators.
* Makes Board presentations and prepares reports concerning outcomes.
* Informs parents of outcomes.
* Prepares the ScoreCard Accountability Report and provides data for the community.
* Prepares and presents reports based upon assessment data for teachers, schools, administrators, Board, and parents.
* Prepares and presents growth reports building and District summaries.
* Maintains longitudinal database of the District, state, and national standardized assessment data.
* Analyzes data and prepares reports per specific requests and needs of district staff or board.
* Plans and facilitates access to and use of standardized assessment data through technology tools.
* Designs and reviews data display formats and reports.
* Monitors and resolves discrepancies, inconsistencies, and gaps in the data.
* Plans and provides staff development on using and interpreting student assessment data.
* Works with District instructional staff and administrators on using data results to aid in continuous improvement efforts.
* Consults with and provides advice and support in designing data collection, analysis, evaluation, and presentation of special initiatives, programs, or studies in such areas as discipline, school climate surveys, educational effectiveness, etc.
* Provides assistance and supports various teams regarding District-wide assessments.
* Provides assistance on the evaluation of curriculum and instruction.
* Provides professional expertise and assistance to individuals, other District staff, and the community concerning areas of instructional expertise/knowledge.
* Attends training sessions, conferences, seminars, and District and departmental meetings.
* Keeps abreast of changing developments, trends, and instructional and educational technologies.
* Works to develop both personally and professionally in the area of racial equity.
* Coordinates the administration of various state or District standardized tests.
* Prepares testing calendars, orders tests, answers questions concerning accommodations, tests security, and indicates who needs to take which tests.
* Keeps informed of changes in test administration and MN assessment procedures; disseminates information to staff.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
* Knowledge of local, state, and federal mandates, rules, and requirements pertaining to student assessment and achievement.
* Knowledge of research and statistical qualitative and quantitative procedures, methods, tools, and principles.
* Knowledge of technology tools, databases, software, and applications used in evaluating statistical data, report preparation, and presentations.
* Knowledge of the fundamentals of instructional design, development, and learning theories.
* Collecting, summarizing, analyzing, and interpreting testing or other statistical data.
* Utilizing statistical packages and software packages for data analysis.
* Designing and laying out documents and reports.
* Coordinating and organizing the administration, collection, testing administration, and distribution of standardized tests.
* Planning and implementing customized studies and data analysis projects requested of the District.
* Interpreting, training, and advising instructional staff, administrators, Board, and the public concerning testing results, implications, and outcomes.
* Making presentations and communicating complex concepts and results in a concise and understandable manner.
* Time management and organizational skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
* Sitting and Desk Work: Much of the role involves office-based tasks such as writing reports, reviewing data, and conducting meetings. Prolonged sitting is often required during computer work, meetings, and presentations.
