We employ over 800 full- and part-time employees and serve over 5000 students from diverse backgrounds. Qualifications: Candidates must have or be able to obtain a proper License from PELSB. Primary Purpose Instructional Coaches will carry forward the professional learning and implementation work of the district to support teacher&#8217;s growth in their instruction, a growth mindset towards the profession, and the belief that all students can learn. This work will be directed by the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning and building Principals in alignment with the District Strategic Plan and Site Improvement Plans. Essential Functions The Instructional Coach will: * Contribute to the acceleration of student achievement by building teacher capacity through the development of research-based knowledge and practice in alignment with the APS operational plan and instructional model. * Coach through modeling, co-planning, co-teaching, observation, and conferencing with teachers. * Provide team level and individual coaching to ensure that instructional practices are aligned with the curriculum, with student assessment data, and with the district's commitment to accelerating learning. * Provide professional development to large and small groups of teachers in coordination with building principals. * Work with teachers to analyze assessment (formative, summative, screening) data, classroom observations and current practice in order to develop coaching goals. General Responsibilities 1. Develop positive and supportive relationships with classroom teachers and specialized professionals. 2. Work with the Leadership, in collaboration with Technology Integrationists, to determine the focus of the district's professional learning and then work as a team to design, prepare, and deliver large and small-group professional learning to appropriate audiences. 3. Provide coaching in the form of modeling, co-planning, co-teaching, observing, and conferencing to support individual teachers as they strive to enhance their practice and their students' learning. This includes responding to teacher inquiries about research-based instructional practices/curriculum questions. Coaching cycles will be in alignment with curriculum implementation and program evaluation. 4. Work with the Office of Teaching and Learning to develop structures that facilitate the improvement of content instruction in alignment with the curriculum and intervention resources. 5. Engage with school MTSS Teams to provide insight to curriculum, instruction, and potential intervention supports. 6. Utilize the coaching cycle processes, documents, and evaluation tools to maximize time with teams and individual teachers. Review and revise the coaching cycle schedule on a quarterly basis. 7. Enhance coaching skills through attendance at/participation in various learning experiences such as conferences, workshops, summer institutes. 8. Provide support to district departments/teams through the curriculum review, planning, and implementation cycles. Support of Probationary Teachers 1. Align district and building professional learning elements to the immediate growth needs for the teacher. 2. Provides intensive coaching to improve the classroom instructional practice. 3. Collaborates with the teacher to self-assess and identify skills and needs for professional growth. 4. Assists the teacher in developing a repertoire of teaching models, methodologies, strategies, and techniques. 5. Assists the teacher in developing classroom management including building routines, fostering relationships, and designing procedures. 6. Support the teacher in their development of professional responsibility and integrity through modeling and coaching cycle conversations. Essential knowledge and specialized subject knowledge required to perform the essential functions of the job: Prior successful experience in multicultural education desirable. Demonstrates continued professional development through course work, research, peer collaboration, and/or job-embedded staff development. Working knowledge of the subject matter, classroom management techniques, current researched best practices and strategies, as well as students' learning styles and needs, both academic and affective.
