Position Overview
Sleepy Eye Public Schools is looking for a student-centered educator to lead our English Language program. In this role, you will work across our elementary and secondary buildings to provide tailored support for students acquiring English. You will serve as a vital bridge between our school community and the diverse families we serve, ensuring every student has the linguistic tools to thrive in a "Small School, Big Opportunities" environment.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Excellence: Utilize WIDA ELD Standards Framework to design lessons that integrate language development with core content (Math, Science, Social Studies). Represent a broad group of diverse and different instructional positions responsible for developing lesson plans and preserving district curriculum in assigned instructional subjects; delivering and instructing students in lesson plans and instructional material; and evaluating and assessing student progress against instructional outcomes and objectives.
Tiered Support: Implement a mix of Co-Teaching/Push-in and specialized Pull-out instruction based on individual student English Language Development (ELD) levels.
Assessment Management: Coordinate and proctor the annual WIDA ACCESS for ELLs and WIDA Screener; maintain detailed records in compliance with MDE "MARSS" reporting.
Collaboration: Actively participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to guide general education staff on "Scaffolding" and "Can Do" descriptors. Collaborate with other educators, administrators, parents, counselors, and district personnel concerning student needs, issues, and district learning initiatives, curriculum, and building issues.
Parent Advocacy: Lead EL-specific family outreach and participate in initiatives to increase school-home engagement for non-native English speakers.
Requirements & Qualifications
Licensure: Must hold a valid Minnesota K-12 ESL Teaching License.
(Note: Under 2026 PELSB rules, candidates with Tier 3 or Tier 4 licenses are preferred. Tier 1 or Tier 2 candidates with a job offer and a clear pathway to full licensure will be considered.)
Education: Minimum of a Bachelor''s Degree in TESOL, ESL, or a related Education field.
Legal Liability: Must be able to pass a background check.
Language Skills: Spanish proficiency is preferred for this position given the local community demographics in Sleepy Eye, but is not required.
Technical Proficiency: Experience with SpEd Forms and/or similar compliance software for EL Plan documentation.

Based on the current Master Agreement
$45,988 + years of service honored
