About the Role As a 5th Grade Teacher, you?ll play a pivotal role in helping students bridge the transition from elementary to middle school. This year is about strengthening academic skills, fostering independence, and supporting social-emotional growth, all while celebrating learning and community. You?ll be part of a collaborative team that values strong instruction, meaningful relationships, and continuous growth. You?ll be supported, coached, and encouraged while also trusted to bring your instructional voice and creativity to your classroom. You will: Plan and deliver engaging instruction aligned to Minnesota Academic Standards Teach using high-quality curriculum, including: Math Expressions (math). Wonders (literacy) FOSS (science), and TCI (social studies) Intentionally teach social-emotional learning using the Fly Five SEL curriculum, helping students develop empathy, responsibility, self-management, and collaboration skills Use Responsive Classroom practices to build a positive, inclusive classroom culture Support students? academic readiness and social-emotional development as they prepare for middle school Collaborate with grade-level colleagues and contribute to school-wide initiatives Monitor student progress and adjust instruction to meet individual needs Communicate openly and effectively with students, families, and colleagues A highlight of the 5th-grade experience is our Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center excursion in late spring, where students celebrate their growth, independence, and community through outdoor learning and shared experiences.
