Huntington Learning Center offers children ages 5 to17 tutoring in Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Study Skills, Phonics, Vocabulary, Science, Test Prep, High School Entrance Exam preparation, and SAT/PSAT, and ACT preparation. In order to ensure that our students have a successful educational experience, our tutors are required to go through some initial and ongoing training in Huntington teaching methods and our highly developed curriculum.
If you are a qualified, caring and dedicated teaching professional, interested in spending your time working directly with students, we will give you the opportunity to do what you love to do - TEACH! At Huntington, there will be no lesson plans to write or homework to grade! You’ll have the opportunity to enhance your resume with experience that is highly respected in the field of education, and you’ll be earning money in a flexible working environment – we offer after school, weekend, and summer instructional hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions to students in various subjects
- Implement lesson plans provided by Huntington
- Administer Academic Evaluation test, or practice tests to know aabout students' academic progress
- Assist students with homework assignments and test preparation
- Communicate with parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to provide updates on student progress
- Occasional teaching related administration tasks including grading tests, and generate student reports for the center director
Qualifications/Desired Skill Sets:
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices (for the elementary school student position)
- Experience working with older students or adult education experience. ACT/SAT Test preparation experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with different learning styles and strategies for engaging students
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate students with special education needs
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
