The Minnesota School Boards Association (MSBA) is a private, nonprofit organization founded in 1920. We are located in St. Peter, Minnesota. MSBA prides itself as being a “Go-To” education association by providing workshops, resources, services, and connections designed to help school boards save time, reduce expenses, govern efficiently, and stay inspired.
Position:
MSBA is seeking a full-time Associate Director of Strategic Planning to join the Strategic Planning and Board Leadership Team. This position has a hybrid working model; it requires evening and occasional weekend hours. Some weeks will have multiple evenings with meetings.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Associate Director of Strategic Planning will assist the Director of Strategic Planning with:
- Facilitating the strategic planning process for school districts, including planning activities, stakeholder engagement, conducting meetings to develop actionable strategic plans, and developing customized resources for each school district.
- Conducting self-evaluation and assessments for school boards, providing valuable insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Delivering responsive customer service and handling information requests effectively.
- Assisting in developing, implementing, and supporting services and programs related to strategic planning, school board leadership, and board governance to meet the unique needs of each school district.
- Presenting at conferences, workshops, and in-district meetings to share best practices in strategic planning, school board leadership, and board governance.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Exceptional communication, facilitation, and presentation skills, adept at engaging diverse audiences virtually and in-person, ensuring effective communication across all levels.
- Demonstrated ability in organizational and project management, proficient in handling multiple tasks concurrently while consistently meeting deadlines, ensuring meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks and deliverables.
- Proficient interpersonal skills enabling effective interaction with individuals at all levels, together with a customer-service-oriented approach emphasizing responsiveness and problem-solving.
- Proven capability to synthesize information from various sources, distilling data into actionable insights and key messages.
- Proficient with Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook), virtual meeting platforms, and survey software.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience with strategic planning and school board development.
- Experience in programs related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Familiarity with local government boards or educational environments, coupled with understanding of public education and school board governance.
