Behavior Specialist
Minnesota Valley Education District (MVED) is looking for a Behavior Specialist for the 2024-2025 school year.
Job Summary:
The Behavior Specialist assists MVED in the design and implementation of child-specific individualized intervention plans; conducts behavioral assessments; assists with program design, data collection and monitoring.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
* Assists in developing and implementing appropriate assessments and behavioral intervention methods for use in unfamiliar situations and for a range of cases;
* Participates in child study staffings, develops and provides feedback on behavioral assessments, interventions, and strategies.
* Provides technical support and in-service training programs for teachers and other staff on applied behavioral analysis, including discrete trial training, establishing classroom schedules, overall classroom management, data collection, and the implementation of specific instructional and research-based behavioral strategies, including the structural program laid out at MVS.
* Consults and provides parent and staff training to support intervention plans at school and in the home and community.
* On-site and in the moment coaching of behavior plans and behavior interventions.
* Provide clear and actionable recommendations to staff on behavior interventions
* Provides regular services reviews to ensure ongoing compliance with implementation of behavior plans under the guidance of administration
* Analyze behavior data to identify triggers, trends, and antecedents in order to adjust interventions as needed.
* Intervene in crisis situations involving escalated behavior
* Model de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behavior
* Advocate for all students
* Serves as a liaison between school and other agencies
* Submits data for third-party billing as required
* Provides good public relations and customer service with member districts, staff, parents, and the general public
* Follows all policies and regulations
* Regular and prompt attendance is essential
* Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
* Comprehensive knowledge of behavior analysis/modification
* Comprehensive knowledge of proactive behavior interventions
* Ability to demonstrate confidentiality
* Ability to evaluate students
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, school staff, administrators, and outside agencies
* Ability to handle a variety of assignments or problems independently
* Ability to apply a variety of procedures and policies
* Ability to collect, read, summarize, compare, and apply data
* Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing with students, parents, school staff, administrators, and other agencies
* Ability to present to small groups and large groups
* Ability to write clearly and concisely
* Ability to use modern office equipment, technology, and related software
Education & Experience:
* Bachelor's Degree Required; Master's Degree preferred
* 3-5 years of experience in a job-related field
Licensures, Certifications, & Other Requirements:
* Certified BCBA preferred or willingness to obtain license
* May be required to possess a current Minnesota Motor Vehicle Class D Operator License
Pay and Benefits:
* Competitive salary range ($70,000-$85,000) based on experience
