St. Croix Preparatory Academy is seeking a dynamic, experienced Director of Development to establish and execute a comprehensive fund development plan that will increase donor engagement and philanthropic support from community constituents and individual donors. Job Summary: The Director of Development will establish St. Croix Prep&#8217;s Office of Development to manage and strengthen relationships with donors. The Director will oversee a comprehensive fund development program that invites philanthropic support through annual, major and planned giving strategies. The development plan will include gifting from individuals, corporations, organizations and foundations. Central to this plan is the implementation of a robust annual giving program; a program that includes donor prospecting and acquisition, alumni outreach, parent and family contributions, multiple annual appeals, a major gifts program, a planned giving strategy, and grant proposal preparation. In addition, the Director will oversee well-established school fundraising events. The Development Director will also be responsible for incorporating best-practice strategies to attract new donors, improve donor engagement and increase philanthropic revenue, in the fundraising processes. The Director will oversee all stewardship efforts to thank, engage and communicate with donors and key constituents. The Director will be responsible for setting short and long term fund development goals in cooperation with the Executive Director of Finance and Operations and the St. Croix Prep Foundation Board. Duties & Responsibilities * Establish and promote St. Croix Prep&#8217;s Office of Development. * Provide leadership in building relationships with a variety of constituencies. * Identify, cultivate, solicit and recognize all funding sources; prepare proposals for individual donors, corporations, foundations, and other granting agencies. * Generate and adopt a short and long term strategic plan for Fund Development. * Compile and manage a comprehensive donor and alumni database. * Serve as primary liaison between the school and the St. Croix Prep Foundation. Comprehensive Fundraising Plan * Create and implement a strategic fundraising plan for St. Croix Prep that includes a variety of fundraising vehicles and school-sponsored fundraising events. * Plan, develop and execute strategies for obtaining charitable donations. * Establish a comprehensive annual/alumni giving program; create case statements and/or written proposals for special campaigns, corporate and foundation support; build relationships with major and planned giving prospects and donors. * Develop a communication plan that strengthens relationships between the school and its external constituents (i.e., alumni, alumni parents, parents, donors, and friends) to encourage philanthropic support for the school. Fundraising Activities * Supervise systematic efforts to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward key donors. * Establish a plan to cultivate and upgrade annual giving donors. * Identify, cultivate, and solicit major gift prospects (current parents, alumni parents, corporations, and foundations). * Provide a comprehensive, targeted stewardship plan to recognize and acknowledge all donors at all levels. * Partner with Communications and Events Manager to establish an event schedule. * Partner with Communications and Events Manager to solicit donor and sponsorship support for events. * Provide for on-going promotion of planned giving opportunities. * Collaborate with the staff in completing restricted gift arrangements. Education, Experience & Skills Required * Bachelor&#8217;s degree required * Experience with charter or private schools or schools of higher education, a plus. * Demonstrated ability to identify and employ best-practices for building donor relations and soliciting major gifts ($25,000 and above). * Demonstrated success with building and maintaining a robust Annual Giving Fund * Strong organizational and time management skills. * Demonstrated supervision of professional level staff with leadership, management, and administrative skills that motivate and build professional support staff competencies. * Strong communication skills including ability to write and speak persuasively about the institution and the need for philanthropic support. * Willingness to work some evenings and weekends. * Willingness to fully integrate into the St. Croix Prep culture. Preferred qualifications: * Advanced degree * Familiarity with alumni/donor database applications. * Demonstrated success in activities to coordinate, attract, and close major gift funding, including face-to-face solicitation of gifts of $100,000 or more. * Demonstrated senior leadership with strategic, policy, and budget planning experience in an organization. * Demonstrated knowledge of Planned Giving.
