Job Title: Special Education Paraprofessional
Supervisor: Special Education Coordinator
Job Summary: Assist students in the general classroom.
Days/ Year: Student contact days / 5 to 7 hours a day
Level: Education Assistant - Level I to Level III (to be determined based on education and experience)
Position Purpose: To provide assistance with specific learner poplulation or a more focused role with individual learners; provide support in classrooms under the direction of licensed staff.
Major Job Functions:
* assist licensed teacher (to be assigned) with day-to-day instruction of sutdents, both individually and in small groups.
* perform other related duties as assigned
* supervise lunchroom and/or playground activities.
Qualifications:
* 60 credits or completion of ParaPro Assessment.
* Experience working with elementary aged children in a structured setting
* Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work effectively as a team member.
* Ability to work effectively with diverse and "at-risk" students individually and in small work groups.
