The set designer&#8217;s chief responsibilities include collaborating with the director, providing detailed plans, ensuring the safety of crew and performers, and educating and training student workers, all while delivering high-quality sets on schedule. Responsibilities: * Collaborating with the director to design the layout and look of the set using sketches, software, and/or models. * Developing time schedules and ordering required materials. * Leading set construction and supervising student builders. * Communicating effectively with costume, props, and lighting staff. * Implementing changes as required throughout rehearsal process. * Briefing crew and actors on set safety and also explaining how the set operates. Qualifications: * Degree in theater / construction is beneficial, but not required. * Excellent creative intelligence and time management skills. * A good eye for detail and the ability to generate many ideas. * Deadline-driven and committed. Working Conditions: Construction environment; significant lifting, carrying, etc. Use of power tools and safety equipment.
