The ideal candidate will join a large special education team with an on-site assistant director, school psychologist, full-time school social worker, behavior interventionist, due process secretary, paraprofessionals, all related service providers, and a continuum of intervention services in its MTSS programming. Qualifications: * Licensed or licensable in Minnesota - EBD or ABS with relevant experience or training * Excellent skills in communication and collaboration (families and staff) * Experience or training in IEP writing, conducting evaluations, and continuous progress monitoring Position Description: The EBD teacher is responsible for meeting the instructional and social/emotional/ behavioral needs of students in kindergarten through 8th grade who have moderate to significant needs and who spend between 25% and 70% of their school day in the EBD classroom. The majority of students fall in he federal setting 2 range of needs. Key Responsibilities: * Provide services based on individual needs in areas such as social skills, behavior regulation, social skills, and academics. * Develop and implement IEPs that address each child's unique needs. * Use evidence-based practices and assessments to monitor progress and adjust instruction and services as needed. * Work collaboratively and team with related service providers. * Participate in multidisciplinary evaluations to determine eligibility for special education services - initial and re-evaluations. * Maintain accurate records, including assessment data, progress reports, and other required documentation for purposes of compliance. * Train, supervise and support paraprofessionals regarding the specific needs of the children on the teacher&#8217;s caseloads. This includes managing assignments within the classroom as to how services will be delivered with the support of paraprofessionals. * Provide general education teachers with necessary information so students can participate safely and successfully in the classroom, including: identify the responsibilities of paraprofessionals; provide information needed for progress monitoring; provide training about behavior plans. * Team with the behavior interventionist to develop and implement behavior support plans. * In collaboration with the behavior interventionist, train all team members on implementation with fidelity and define progress monitoring tools and responsibilities. * Visit classrooms on a regular basis to determine that services provided are meeting students&#8217; needs. * Work with classroom teachers to modify expectations for classwork and assignments based on individual students&#8217; needs. * Create and implement communication systems with families. * Work collaboratively with the Lead Special Education Teacher to identify curricula and instructional materials relevant to each students&#8217; needs and participate in training on instructional resources available at Cologne Academy * Participate in professional growth activities on a yearly basis including recertification for CPI, workshops, in-services, professional reading materials, and/or other available offerings consistent with district and program priorities. * Other duties as assigned.
