Developmental Adaptive Physical Education (DAPE) Teacher/Special Education Teacher
Rochester Beacon Academy is seeking a part time DAPE special education teacher for the 2025-2026 school year.
Rochester Beacon Academy (RBA) is a 6th-12th grade charter school that places a strong emphasis on providing individualized attention to students. The school has small class sizes, allowing teachers to provide students with focused and personalized instruction. RBA also has a special focus on serving students with special education needs, with close to 80% of the student body receiving such services. The administration and staff are dedicated to providing these students with the support and resources they need to succeed in school and beyond.

Your job responsibilities includes but are not limited to:
Develop and provide programming based on Individual Education Plan and make recommendations based on analyzed assessment data.
Communicate regularly with parents outside normal classroom day as to progress towards IEP DAPE Goals.
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
Maintain and improve professional skills by participating in building and department meetings, formal coursework, workshops, and seminars in an effort to stay current with best teacher practices.
Work in a supportive and collaborative manner with colleagues and supervisors.
Responsible for case management of special education DAPE students
Complete required Due Process procedures within mandated time frames.
Perform other duties as related to DAPE.
Attend IEP meetings as needed.
Adapt instructional methods and materials to accommodate diverse learning styles.
Assess students’ abilities and track their progress to ensure educational goals are met.
Collaborate with general education teachers, school staff, and parents to support student development.
Provide direct instruction and interventions to students in both individual and group settings.
Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress and assessments.
Utilize assistive technology and adaptive equipment to enhance student learning.
Stay informed about best practices in special education and implement innovative teaching strategies.
Qualifications:
Minnesota PreK-12 Developmental/Adaptive Physical Education License
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
Valid state teaching certification/licensure in Special Education.
Experience working with students with disabilities in a school setting.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive teaching strategies.
Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
