Minnehaha Academy Middle School has an opening for a 55% part-time choir teacher for the 2025-2026 school-year, from August 2025 through June 2026. This teacher will:
* Direct a curricular choir of 6th grade students
* Direct a curricular choir of 7th and 8th grade students
* Direct an extracurricular choir of 6th-8th grade students
* Direct 4 concerts every year
* Potential to work with middle school musicals
* Teach a guided study class
The salary range for this position would be $21,120 - $42,800, depending on education level and experience.
Qualifications include:
* Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field
* Middle School teaching experience preferred
* Strong choral conducting skills and experience
* Ability to integrate the Christian faith within the classroom
* Proficiency with the Apple iPad, Google Workspace, and other technology tools
* Ability to encourage parental involvement in students’ education and provide effective communication with students and parents
* Strong assessment skills and ability to give feedback and report on student progress
* Ability to establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom
* Understanding of and experience teaching a wide range of vocal music styles and genres
* Proficiency in musical literacy and adolescent vocal pedagogy
* Ability to adapt music for middle school vocal abilities
* A focus on acquiring professional knowledge and learning of current developments in music education
* Leadership qualities to motivate and inspire students
* Understanding of child development and appropriate classroom management techniques
