Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate, student-centered School Social Worker to join our team and provide direct support to students, families, and school staff. This role will focus on social-emotional learning, behavioral support, and crisis intervention to ensure students have the resources and skills necessary to succeed in school and beyond. The ideal candidate will be flexible, collaborative, and dedicated to creating a safe and supportive school environment where all students can thrive. The positions available are located in various locations around the metropolitan areas of Minneapolis and St. Paul; both full time and part time positions available.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Student Support
* Provide individual and small-group counseling to address social-emotional learning, self-regulation, coping skills, and overall well-being.
* Develop and implement IEP goals and objectives tailored to student needs and plan lessons accordingly.
* Track student progress and collect data for monitoring growth in social-emotional and behavioral skills.
* Assist students in developing positive social interactions, conflict resolution skills, and self-advocacy strategies.
Collaboration & School-Wide Support
* Partner with teachers, administrators, and related service providers to create a positive and inclusive school experience for all students.
* Participate in staff professional development, staff meetings, and parent education opportunities as needed.
* Provide crisis intervention, de-escalation, and conflict resolution support for students in need.
* Educate staff and families on mental health, trauma-informed practices, and behavioral interventions.
Family & Community Engagement
* Assist families in navigating school and community resources to support their child’s educational and emotional needs.
* Make referrals to community agencies for additional services, such as mental health counseling, housing assistance, and food support.
* Build relationships with local organizations and service providers to develop a strong support network for students and families.
Ethical & Professional Responsibilities
* Uphold and adhere to the Social Work Code of Ethics in all professional interactions and decision-making.
* Maintain accurate and confidential documentation in compliance with school policies and regulations.
* Utilize technology and student information systems to communicate effectively and track student progress.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Licensure: Must be licensed by the Minnesota Department of Education as a School Social Worker through the Professional Educator and Licensing Board (PELSB).
* Education: Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) preferred.
* Experience: Previous experience working with children, adolescents, or in a school setting preferred.
