The Special Education Teacher will work collaboratively with other educators, administrators, and support staff to provide specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs. ASSIGNMENT: Certified MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: 1. Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): * Develop and implement effective IEPs tailored to the individual needs of students with disabilities. * Collaborate with parents, guardians, and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive and collaborative approach to student success. 2. Differentiated Instruction: * Plan and deliver differentiated instruction to address various learning styles, abilities, and disabilities within the classroom. * Use a variety of instructional strategies and materials to engage and motivate students. 3. Classroom Management: * Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and respect. * Implement effective behavior management strategies, reinforcing positive behavior and addressing challenges promptly. 4. Assessment and Progress Monitoring: * Conduct ongoing assessments to measure student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly. * Collaborate with the IEP team to review and analyze assessment data to inform instructional decisions. 5. Collaboration and Communication: * Work closely with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff to ensure a cohesive and integrated educational experience for all students. * Communicate regularly with parents and guardians, providing updates on student progress and addressing concerns. 6. Professional Development: * Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in special education. * Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills. 7. Advocacy: * Advocate for the needs of students with disabilities within the school community and in collaboration with external agencies. * Collaborate with colleagues to create a school culture that embraces diversity and inclusivity. Supervision of Other Employees: * This position is not responsible for the supervision of other District employees. Working Environment: * The Special Education Teacher will work in a classroom setting, collaborating with other educators and support staff. The role may involve adapting to various learning environments and addressing the unique needs of individual students. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: * Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field; Master's degree preferred. * Valid state teaching certification in Special Education. * Previous experience in special education teaching or a related field is highly desirable. * Knowledge of diverse learning needs and effective instructional strategies for students with disabilities. * Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
