Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide direct and indirect occupational therapy services to students ages birth through 22 in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
2. Deliver targeted support to key district programs, including Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE), SUN/SP programs, and the district’s Transition Program.
3. Assist with evaluations for students suspected of having disabilities and participate in IEP team meetings.
4. Develop IEP goals related to fine motor, sensory integration, self-help, and independent living skills.
5. Collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, and parents to support classroom instruction and carryover of OT strategies.
6. Recommend and assist with implementation of adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and environmental modifications.
7. Conduct home-based services and evaluations for infants and toddlers (birth–3) year-round.
8. Complete due process documentation, maintain compliance with third-party billing requirements, and adhere to federal/state regulations.
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Provide direct instruction and intervention aligned with IEP goals in classroom, small group, or individual settings.
2. Support programmatic needs in specialized classrooms regardless of individual student IEP services.
3. Assist in the development of classroom-based systems to support regulation, engagement, and functional skills.
4. Serve as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary evaluation and planning teams.
5. Maintain accurate records and service documentation.
6. Provide consultation and professional development to staff within ECSE, SUN/SP, and Transition programs.
Knowledge and Skills:
1. In-depth understanding of occupational therapy principles, sensory processing, motor development, and school-based interventions.
2. Knowledge of special education compliance and service delivery models across ages birth–22.
3. Strong communication and collaboration skills with educational teams and families.
4. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage a varied caseload across multiple settings.
5. Experience working in ECSE, center-based, and transition programming preferred.
