Position Overview: The successful candidate will be an individual who firmly believes: * All students can and will learn, and their learning can be directly influenced by focusing on factors over which we have control. * You can work interdependently with teachers, school, and district leadership throughout the system, aligning the work of adults around improving student learning by meeting students' needs, interests, and aspirations. * You want to work with staff to continuously improve practices that enhance student and family engagement, creating the conditions for student success. Primary Responsibilities: * Administrative oversight of all aspects of SUN (Students with Unique Needs), including day-to-day operations, staff management and supervision, creating a safe and supportive learning environment, ensuring special education needs are met for all students, and collaborating with leadership and stakeholders. * Responsible for promoting the educational development of students with special learning needs; and under the direction of the Executive Director, to share in the duties and responsibilities of providing leadership to special education programs and services, supervision of instruction, evaluation of special education certified staff and paraprofessionals, special services contracts, and public relations. Qualifications: * Must possess and demonstrate excellent leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills, highly developed written and oral communication skills, successful experience working with individuals and groups, problem-solving and conflict resolution ability, and collaborative approaches with stakeholders. * A valid MN Director of Special Education or K-12 Principal license is required, or the ability to obtain licensure within 6 months of hire, with a minimum of five years of successful teaching experience; three or more years of teaching experience with special education students/programs preferred. * Commitment to all students' education, creative planning and organizational skills, and highly effective interpersonal skills. * We strongly prefer candidates with excellent collaboration skills and a passion for working with students with unique needs. Background in working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorders preferred. Salary and Benefits: The salary range for this position is based on the Non-Union Administration Employment Agreement, with an annual salary range of $103,722-$123,722.
