Description: The LADC is responsible to provide Substance Use and Recovery Counseling to high school aged students and assist teachers in serving students in a recovery high school.
Job Summary:
* Provide 1-on-1 CD Counseling
* Conduct weekly sobriety support groups
* Facilitate a Peer Support Team
* Create Recovery Plan with each student
* Create and monitor Relapse Prevention Plans
* Communicate with parents, social workers, and/or probation officers
* Assist teachers and other staff with CD issues
* Provide teachers and staff recovery related resources
* Use and track data collected through Student SEARS survey to help students build their recovery capital.
* Organize variety of recovery related events throughout the year
* Coordinate volunteers at PEASE
* Coordinate & supervise LADC & Social Worker Interns
* Organize annual Opportunity Affair
* Assist Director with Marketing events
* Assist Director in determining course of action regarding student relapse
* Attend PEASE and District functions
* Uphold and further the mission & policies of PEASE Academy and MN Transitions Charter School
* Assist other MTCS schools when CD issues/questions arise
Qualifications:
* A valid and current Alcohol and Drug Counselor license issued by the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy (BBHT).
* Experience working with adolescents diagnosed with substance use disorder.
* Knowledge of the current best practices regarding adolescent substance use disorder and adolescent recovery.
* Knowledge of culturally specific modalities to be able to serve all students in a public-school setting.
* Practice Trauma informed and responsive approaches
* Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to maintain student safety at all times
* Strong interpersonal skills to include the ability to work effectively with students, parents, district staff and community members from diverse backgrounds.
* Excellent organizational skills.
* Ability to plan and implement lessons based upon district and school goals and objectives as well as student needs
* Ability to adapt counseling styles to diverse student populations.
* Ability to evaluate student SEARS data to performance and to foster student strengthening their recovery capital.
* Ability to utilize computer and multimedia technology as appropriate.
* Ability to consistently and effectively design recovery supportive activities for students
* Ability to work with a wide variety of students in a calm, patient, understanding, creative, flexible, student-centered environment
* Good human relation skills, team player and professional demeanor
* Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
* Ability to maintain confidentiality of student information at all times.
* Experience with restorative practices.
Hours:
M-F, school hours
