POSITION TITLE: School Counselor, Part-time

ABOUT SMEC: The Southern Minnesota Education Consortium is looking for a licensed school counselor. Applicants must be properly licensed through PELSB and willing to travel between SMEC programs and member districts. SMEC is an education district made up of seven member districts that offer special education services and programming. These districts are Alden-Conger, Glenville-Emmons, Grand Meadow, Kingsland, Leroy-Ostrander, Lyle, and Southland. This position will serve the Lyle District & SMEC.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must hold or obtain an active School Counselor or related teaching license from MN PELSB.

· Demonstrate knowledge of technology and software applications appropriate to job responsibilities.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
*
Perform direct services which include, but are not limited to, school counseling core curriculum, individual counseling and student planning, classroom lessons, small group counseling, and preventative and responsive services.

· Perform indirect services on behalf of students include, but not limited to, referrals for additional assistance and consultation/collaboration with parents, teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders to create a learning environment promoting educational equity, access, and success for every student.
*
· Reviews and disaggregates student achievement, attendance, and behavior data to identify and implement interventions with current knowledge of promotion, retention, and graduation requirements.
*
· Uses appropriate responses and a variety of intervention strategies to meet the needs of the individual, group or school community before, during and after crisis response.
*
· Fosters family and community partnerships to support the social/emotional and academic development of all students.
*
· Advocates for student equity and access to a world-class education that leads to high school graduation and fosters post-graduate success.
*
· Follows adopted policies and procedures in accordance with School Board priorities.
*
· Other appropriate duties as assigned by administration, as needed.
