Agriculture / Industrial Technology Teacher
Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a passionate educator who loves working with students and is enthusiastic about teaching agriculture and/or IT. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, team player, and proactive collaborator who can foster student success and build meaningful connections with students, families, staff, and community partners.
Qualifications
* Current Minnesota teaching license in Agricultural Education or Technology Education
* Experience teaching senior high school students and/or working in collaborative team settings preferred
* Professional development or experience with career academy models is strongly preferred
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Demonstrated ability to work positively and constructively within teacher teams
* Proven ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders, including students, staff, administration, and community partners
Key Responsibilities
* Teach the following courses: Greenhouse Management, Introduction to Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources (AFNR), Welding, and additional courses as assigned.
* Expand elective offerings in our academy model to align with high-demand, high-wage, high-skill careers
* Communicate effectively with students and families about course offerings and the agriculture/IT program.
* Deliver engaging instruction that introduces students to career pathways in agriculture and other CTE pathways.
* Promote and integrate FFA and youth leadership development into classroom instruction.
* Equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in a global economy.
* Stay informed and educate students on current trends in agriculture and the trades.
* Create lesson plans that align with district policies and Minnesota State Standards.
* Maintain and supervise school agriculture and IT labs, including the greenhouse.
* Plan and conduct adult and community education programs, including alumni events, young farmer groups, and booster clubs (Some events may occur outside of regular school hours, including evenings and summers).
* Manage and submit all required FFA rosters, entries, registrations, and documentation in a timely and organized manner.
* Attend local, state, and national FFA and career/technical education trainings.
* Support the implementation of academy pathways and the BARR model throughout the school.
* Utilize YouScience to help students explore personal aptitudes and identify future academic and career opportunities.
* Develop partnerships with local businesses and community organizations to:
* Demonstrate the relevance of education
* Expose students to real-world opportunities
* Provide career-connected learning experiences
* Prepare students for industry-recognized certifications.
* Maintain working knowledge of and implement the Minnesota State Standards and DLHS graduation requirements.
