Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Chemistry Teacher to join the faculty at Albany Area High School. The ideal candidate will inspire and engage students in the study of chemistry, fostering a deep understanding of scientific principles and their applications. This full-time position requires a commitment to creating a dynamic learning environment that encourages critical thinking, collaboration, and a love for science. Responsibilities: - Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum requirements. - Teach chemistry concepts through lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on laboratory experiments. - Assess student progress through assignments, tests, and projects, providing timely feedback to support their learning. - Create a positive classroom environment that promotes respect, enthusiasm, and active participation. - Collaborate with other educators to integrate interdisciplinary approaches and enhance the overall educational experience. - Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance. - Communicate regularly with students, parents, and staff regarding academic progress and any concerns. - Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events to contribute to the school community. - Stay current with developments in the field of chemistry and educational best practices. Requirements: - Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Education, or a related field. - Valid teaching certification in Chemistry for secondary education. - Strong knowledge of chemistry concepts and laboratory practices. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to create an inclusive and engaging classroom environment. - Experience with using technology and digital resources for teaching and assessment. - Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth as an educator. - Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required. Benefits: * Health, Dental, Vision, Life, and LTD Insurance * TRA * 403b Salary Range: * $43,836 - $82,127 * The salary range is based on the 2024-2025 school year union contract; these amounts will be subject to change/increase once the new contract is settled.
