Position Summary:
VirtualEDU is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Special Education Teacher to support students with a variety of learning needs through a flexible virtual and hybrid instructional model. This role is integral to providing specialized instruction in reading, language arts, mathematics, and social-emotional learning (SEL) within a project-based learning framework. The ideal candidate is passionate about innovative teaching, leverages technology to support diverse learners, and works collaboratively with general education teachers to foster student engagement and success.
Program Overview:
VirtualEDU offers instruction in two formats: fully virtual and hybrid. Students and families choosing the hybrid model attend in-person learning for a portion of the instructional week. The program emphasizes real-world, project-based learning to develop students' academic and interpersonal skills while tailoring supports to meet individualized learning needs.
Essential Responsibilities:
* Provide specialized instruction aligned with IEP goals in the areas of reading, language arts, math, and SEL.
* Design and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons using a project-based learning model.
* Collaborate regularly with general education teachers to co-plan and integrate supports within core content instruction.
* Monitor and document student progress, adjust instruction based on data, and ensure fidelity to IEP implementation.
* Maintain open and consistent communication with families to support student learning and growth.
* Use a variety of digital tools and platforms to deliver high-quality instruction and support student accessibility.
* Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that promotes student autonomy and success.
* Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and team planning sessions as needed.
* Coordinate with related service providers, paraprofessionals, and support staff to implement student supports effectively.
* Engage in ongoing professional learning to stay informed of best practices in special education, virtual instruction, and project-based learning.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in Special Education
* Experience with virtual or hybrid instruction and supporting students with diverse learning needs is preferred.
Licensure & Certifications:
* Valid Minnesota Teaching License in Special Education (specific licensure areas flexible based on student needs).
Required Knowledge & Skills:
* Strong knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring.
* Familiarity with project-based learning and its application in special education.
* Ability to differentiate instruction for a range of learning profiles and needs.
* Proficient in digital learning tools, virtual platforms, and assistive technology.
* Effective communication skills for remote collaboration with students, families, and staff.
* Commitment to inclusive education and culturally responsive practices.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
* Work is performed in a virtual environment and in-person
* Must be able to remain in a stationary position and work effectively using a computer and other digital tools for extended periods.
Hours & Compensation:
1.0 FTE, 185 Days

Range: BA: $45,627- $65,024
MA: $50,702 - $82,203
