Position Summary: The Visual Arts Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based art instruction to students. This position fosters creativity, artistic skills, and critical thinking through a variety art forms. The teacher plans and implements lessons aligned with the Minnesota Academic Standards in the Arts, assesses student learning, and supports the development of a positive and inclusive classroom environment. Collaboration with colleagues, participation in school-wide activities, and effective communication with students and families are essential components of the role. The Visual Arts Teacher is responsible for providing academic and goal-based learning experiences that enhance student progress in appreciation of art instruction.
Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:
* Design and deliver standards-based art instruction aligned with the Minnesota Academic Standards in the Arts
* Instruct students in a range of visual art media, fostering both technical skills and creative expression.
* Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, providing timely feedback and maintaining accurate records.
* Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages artistic risk-taking, collaboration, and respect for diverse perspectives.
* Maintain and manage classroom materials and equipment, ensuring a well-organized and safe learning space.
* Collaborate with colleagues and participate in school-wide initiatives, art shows, and interdisciplinary projects that enhance student learning and community engagement.
* Encourage students to grow in their enjoyment, appreciation, and creativity throughout art education.
* Emphasize the importance of art in education.
