Through an anti-racist lens, the Student Success Advocate serves to achieve and support equitable scholar achievement. In this work, the Student Success Advocate will exhibit vigilant equity, authentic inclusivity, optimistic innovation, humility of heart, love, and be intentionally adventurous. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This class specification lists the major duties and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive. Incumbent(s) may be expected to perform job-related duties other than those contained in this document and may be required to have specific job-related knowledge and skills. Provides Academic and Social Emotional Support * Advises and counsels students with academic, educational, and short-term social and emotional concerns. * Assist in identifying and providing academic and social emotional supports for students. * Demonstrates and models empathy through everyday interaction for the betterment of the school community. * Assists in the facilitation of Social Emotional Learning for all students. * Collaborates with the Student Support Team to proactively support students using student-centered and restorative approaches. * Remains universally accessible and makes an effort to know every student. Advocates for Culturally Sustaining Pedagogy * Displays passion for engaging in work focused on eliminating racial disparities and achieving cultural competence. * Cultivates the genius in every scholar while helping colleagues to identify and grow the genius in each scholar. * Assists teachers in creating and delivering anti-racist curriculum and instruction. Encourages Family Engagement * Facilitates opportunities for staff, families, and the community to learn and engage in eliminating racialized achievement gaps and inequity in our beloved community. * Collects and analyzes data that includes the voices and experiences of students and families as well as descriptions of the instruction delivered to students and process maps of decision making. * Assists the community in understanding and changing policies and procedures that are not aligned with Vision 2031. * Works cooperatively and courageously with colleagues, teachers, and parents in the best interest of students as determined by stakeholders, including the students themselves. * Empowers all stakeholders by creating an atmosphere of value and respect for students, staff, parents, colleagues, and community members. Supports a Student-Centered Culture * Recognizes, responds to, and can redress inequities and support students and staff in fostering an unwavering belief in their capacity to grow. * Demonstrates the ability to effectively establish a culture of physical, emotional, and academic safety in which the school community recognizes and values the authentic identities of its members. * Builds relationships with students and families by leading with love and humility. * Uses proactive and purposeful interactions with staff and students during the academic day to build a strong sense of community and belonging. * Assists classroom teachers in finding ways to celebrate student growth. * Amplifies the voices of our students in decision making situations. * Creates and serves as mentor for student group(s) focused on equity. * Must be able to complete all listed job duties and other duties as assigned by the building Principal. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and Experience: * Three years of experience in K-12 education requiring contact with historically marginalized communities. * Evidence of anti-racist and culturally sustaining teaching experience in K-12 education. * Demonstrated success in intercultural and cross-racial conversation and relationships in an educational setting. Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation. * Driver&#8217;s License PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
