Global Academy New Brighton, Minnesota K-8 Special Education Teacher Job Posting 2025-2026 Global Academy is seeking passionate, dedicated teachers who will provide best-practice instruction to diverse learners. Global Academy is an award-winning charter school that leads the state in closing the achievement gap for diverse students. Global Academy&#8217;s mission is based on the principles of the International Baccalaureate Programme and is an authorized IB site. Global Academy is the first charter school in Minnesota to have iPads for each of its 450 students in grade K-8. Global Academy&#8217;s school culture is exemplary in providing a calm, safe environment in which students can learn. Global Academy typically serves about 40 special education students with a variety of disabilities. Responsibilities: * Articulate the mission and vision of Global Academy to students, parents, and the greater community * Collaborate with teachers, school psychologist and other specialists in conducting special education evaluations and writing evaluation summary reports * Administer standardized evaluation instruments in conformance with professional standards of administration * Write Individual Education Plans * Plan and conduct special education team meetings * Assess and document the progress of special education students and communicate progress to parents through informal and formal progress reports * Maintain special education records in accordance with Minnesota Department of Education guidelines * Serve on Student Assistance Team * Supervise and direct the activities of special education assistants * Collaborate with teachers and instructional assistants to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with IEPs * Create a positive rapport with students and parents * Motivate each student to develop his/her full potential * Create a classroom environment in which every child can succeed and which establishes high academic and behavior standards * Create effective lesson plans and instructional materials * Provide individualized and small group instruction as needed * Translate lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences * Maintain a safe classroom environment * Implement and support the School Wide Positive Behavior System established by the school * Use standardized test data to make instructional decisions * Communicate with parents during the school day and outside the normal classroom hours as required * Identify student needs and make appropriate referrals for student services * Work collaboratively with administration/sped coordinator to guarantee student success * Help to promote and maintain a professional environment * Be supportive and collaborative with colleagues and administrators * Demonstrate the attributes of a lifelong learner * Stay current with best teaching practices * Participate successfully in the faculty professional development and evaluation system * Perform other duties as may be reasonably assigned by the administration Required Qualifications: * Licensed (or eligible to be licensed) to teach a special education disability by the State of Minnesota * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Proficient in educational technology * Ability to work with diverse student populations Preferred Qualifications: * Experience as a Special Education Teacher * Experience working with ESL population * Knowledge of or experience with the International Baccalaureate Program * Experience in developing curriculum Interested candidates should submit the following: * a cover letter, * resume, * 3 signed letters of recommendation, * college transcripts, * a copy of teaching license Global Academy is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate among applicants on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, age, disability, or veteran status.
