Much of the work of the Due Process Facilitator consists of preparing Individual Education Plans, supporting exemplary compliance for all paperwork and timelines, and managing regular communication for the Special Education department. The Due Process Facilitator should also be able to facilitate a variety of meetings in a supportive and respectful manner. The Due Process Facilitator is employed at will and operates as a professional within the guidelines established by Nova Classical Academy. In cooperation with Nova Classical staff and volunteers, the Due Process Facilitator works to fulfill the school&#8217;s mission in the following areas of responsibility: AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Individual Education Programs * Collaborate with students&#8217; teachers, case managers, related services providers, and families to develop annual individualized education programs (IEPs) for students who receive special education services that reflect appropriate goals, support, and services based on student needs, ensuring due process compliance requirements * Write IEP, in conjunction with the special education teachers, the Prior Written Notice (PWN), and other relevant paperwork, ensuring adherence to all due process compliance requirements * Schedule IEP and other special education meetings, including creating a Notice of Team Meeting, and sending calendar invites with Zoom links to all appropriate parties * Support Special Education Teachers with new student intake meetings, including the creation of an agenda, facilitating the intake meeting, and completing the intake IEP and PWN, sending the intake IEP and PWN to parents/guardians once completed * Add new students to SpEd Forms, including writing the IEP into SpEd Forms manually as appropriate for transferred students * Assist Special Education Teachers in developing IEP goals based on assessment data and student need * Communicate consent and IEP/Evaluation timelines and status updates on due process paperwork with all appropriate team members * Attend Child Study Team (CST) and Department meetings to ensure clear communication of due process information * Communicate regularly with general education teachers to ensure input for IEP meetings, including communication of Excusal Forms to parents * Communicate regularly with special education teachers to ensure clear communication and training support for the growth of special education teachers * Provide paperwork to guardians (email, US post), including annually sending the Procedural Safeguards notices * Facilitate IEP meetings via Zoom unless there is a special circumstance, and a meeting is held in person Evaluation Reports * Build Evaluation Template in SpEd Forms to align with Evaluation Report with appropriate team member input * Complete standardized academic assessments, curriculum-based measurements, and observations as necessary for evaluations * Send Evaluation Plan PWNs to parents/guardians via Adobe Sign or other similar program, email, or USPS mail * Collect signed evaluation plan and update evaluation team with due dates and timelines * Analyze results of assessments and write evaluation reports, including typing information from the teacher/parent questionnaires and other data (baselines), cumulative file reviews, and other evaluation sections as determined appropriate by the evaluation team members * Finalize Evaluations & Evaluation Prior Written Notices in SpEd Forms and validate Individual Education Plans and Prior Written Notices once signature/passive consent is received * Consult with evaluation team members to determine the eligibility of students for Special Education services * Prepare Evaluation Results Meeting Agenda and share with appropriate team members * Facilitate the Evaluation Results Meetings, including initial and re-evaluations, unless otherwise determined by the Special Education Coordinator Due Process Support * Regularly collaborates with the Special Education Coordinator * Review students&#8217; due process files for audits to ensure compliance * Support Special Education Teachers in learning SpEd Forms to ensure the growth and development of their due process skills * Copies and disseminates due process paperwork and progress reports to parents/guardians and team members * Support special education teachers with completing quarterly IEP progress reports and data collection to determine Extended School Year eligibility * Ensure Student Acknowledgement (Tuition Agreement) Forms are sent to resident districts * Maintain special education data across multiple data platforms District Support * Attend grade level, faculty, staff, and other meetings and/or training, as required * Adherence to and knowledge of Nova Classical policies and procedures * Support of and alignment to Nova Classical&#8217;s principles of classical education, including but not limited to the Board-approved definition of classical education and its implementation under the direction of Nova&#8217;s Academic Director * Other duties as assigned REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS * Bachelor&#8217;s or advanced degree in a relevant field * Valid Minnesota teaching license in K-12 Special Education including, but not limited to: Academic and Behavioral Strategist, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Learning Disabilities, Emotional Behavior Disorders, Developmental Disabilities, or ability to obtain * Knowledge of special education law and due process compliance * Knowledge of writing and implementing IEPs and evaluations using SpEd Forms * Excellent oral and written communication * Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to build trust with colleagues, students, and families * Able to communicate effectively and regularly with the special education and general education teams regarding questions and concerns * Student-focused and education oriented * Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student and other privileged information * Demonstrated professional and technical knowledge in Special Education * Aptitude for work with students at various grades and development levels * Committed to professional and technical development through attendance at development activities, scheduled meetings, and relevant and/or required training DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS * Five (5) or more years of experience as a special education teacher and/or in a due process role * Current or previous experience working in a classical education environment * Experience as a Teacher, Educational Assistant, Paraprofessional, or Para Educator * Current or previous experience working in education * Experience working with identified special needs * Knowledge of Google Suite programs - Documents, Sheets, Slides * Knowledge of applicable school policies and procedures * Well-developed, clear communication and interpersonal skills that maintain a respectful, professional, and courteous manner * Ability to work with diverse student populations * Organized, flexible, and adaptable * Able to demonstrate excellent judgment in decision making PHYSICAL DEMANDS * Duties are generally performed in a classroom and/or resource room setting, where some environmental hazards and/or risks may be present * Must be able to remain in a stationary position and/or walk for periods of one hour or more * Frequent lifting up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting up to 40 pounds * Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects in the performance of the job * Exposure to various disagreeable conditions which may involve, but are not limited to, human/student contact, verbal outbursts, physical aggression, exposure to bodily fluids * Must be able to exchange accurate information with students, teachers, parents, and staff * Regular operation of computer or other office machines * Regular stooping, squatting, kneeling, reaching, bending, walking, or a combination of these * Occasional or frequent standing for periods of four (4) hours or more JOB SUMMARY The primary role of the Due Process Facilitator is to enhance the learning environment for students by providing effective, personalized attention;
