TITLE: NLC Special Ed Coordinator
YEAR: 2025–2026 school year (with the possibility of extension; additional length to be determined.)
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
CLOSING DATE: Until filled
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum of 5 years experience in special education
2. Licensed in MN or eligible for MN license
3. Experience in a leadership role/position
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR NLC COORDINATOR:
1. Attend (or appoint a designee for) IEP meetings throughout the member districts upon local district request.
2. Assist member districts with manifestation determination meetings.
3. Assist administration and staff with transitioning students to and from one school district to another.
4. Advise administration and staff on due process and special education reporting requirements.
5. Assist staff in member districts with the decision making process of program or alternative educational placement of students.
6. Prepare reports as requested by the Executive Director.
7. Maintain, update, and train member district staff in the use of SpEd Forms computer program/database.
8. Assist with due process requirements and updating member district staff regarding Third Party Billing process through SpEd Forms.
9. Assist Director with CIMP (Continuous Improvement Monitoring Process).
10. Provide and plan in-service training to special education teachers/administrators.
11. Maintain a current understanding of special education rules, laws, and service delivery models.
12. Access and research caseload data for all member districts.
13. Assist with due process file reviews for member districts.
14. Assist in preparing for and/or participating in dispute resolution meetings.
15. Provide assistance, as needed, to non-special ed staff and to parents of special ed students.
16. Assist in recruitment and hiring of Special Education teaching and support staff.
17. Assist or lead conciliation conference meetings.
18. Assist with updating NLC website.
19. Support special education teachers in re-evaluation process.
20. Assist with revisions and maintenance of Total Special Ed System (TSES).
21. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
