Northwest Service Cooperative Adult Basic Education (ABE) is a consortium of 29 school districts in northwest Minnesota that help adult learners acquire basic skills. The consortium is currently seeking a part-time ABE instructor for the communities of Park Rapids and Nevis (approx. 816 hours per year or approximately 16 hours per week including paid prep time and professional development hours). This is a year-round position. There is some flexibility in the schedule. This important position oversees one of the busier ABE programs in the consortium! * Park Rapids ABE: Classes are held M, T & W evenings from 3:30 to 7:30 PM in Park Rapids. The site enrolled 90 adult learners from 11 countries speaking 6 languages in the 2025 program year (May 1 &#8211; April 30) for a total of 2912 student instructional hours. (Average 32.5 instructional hours per student) * Nevis ABE: Classes are offered as needed and are held twice a week for 90 minutes when students enroll. The site enrolled 4 adult learners in the 2025 program year (May 1 &#8211; April 30) for a total of 193 student instructional hours. (Average of 48.25 instructional hours per student) Adult Basic Education (ABE) Instructors develop curriculum and implement educational programs for adult learners and promote ABE programming in the local communities. ABE programming includes prep for the following: General Educational Development (GED), English as a Second Language (ESL), US Citizenship, Adult Diploma, digital literacy, workplace skills, career and post-secondary planning, basic literacy and numeracy. Essential Duties: * Develop and plan instructional activities * Develop lesson plans and individual educational plans * Administer student assessment tests and evaluate results * Provide direct instruction in ABE content areas * Establish and maintain an appropriate environment for adult learning * Demonstrate organizational skills for managing multi-level classrooms * Provide intake, evaluation, referral, placement and support for adult learners who contact the program * Act as a representative of the program in the community * Attend consortium staff meetings * Participate in regional and state in-service training as needed * Complete all current/required state and district training * Perform other duties as assigned Job Skills: * Ability to work independently and self-manage workload * A passion and willingness to learn and grow * Strong oral and written communication skills * Adaptability based on changing needs * Solutions-focused problem-solving skills Minimum Qualifications: * Current MN Teaching License required * Prior experience with adult literacy or certification in Adult Education and/or ESL preferred. Starting Hourly Wage: $29.68/hour (or higher, DOE) Start Date: Training to begin upon hire.
