Position Summary: The maintenance professional is responsible for the upkeep and repair of the school facilities, ensuring they are safe, clean, and functional for students, staff and visitors.
Essential Duties: The Maintenance Professional is responsible for facility maintenance. The Maintenance Professional ensures all facilities are in compliance with safety regulations and district policies, identifies and resolves maintenance issues promptly, and collaborates with other staff to support the operational needs of the district. Duties include performing routine and preventative maintenance, coordinating and completing work orders, and maintaining accurate records and documentation. Responsibilities also encompass snow removal, landscaping, custodial support, general cleaning, and acting as a courier as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform general repairs to building systems such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and structural components.
* Maintain and repair classroom furniture, fixtures, and instructional equipment.
* Conduct routine inspections to identify and address safety hazards or maintenance needs.
* Complete assigned work orders efficiently and maintain accurate records of completed tasks.
* Perform seasonal grounds maintenance, including snow removal, lawn care, and upkeep of outdoor areas.
* Assist with special facility projects such as minor renovations and equipment installations.
* Serve as a district courier by transporting materials or supplies between buildings.
* Support custodial staff with general duties and assist with large-scale or specialized tasks such as floor care and deep-cleaning projects.
* Fill in for custodial staff when necessary and assist with facility setup or teardown for events and meetings.
* Other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or vocal training in building maintenance or a related field is preferred
* Experience in facility maintenance, facility operation, construction, or related fields is preferred.
* Knowledge of minor repairs in plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, basic carpentry, and other building systems or willingness to learn.
* Ability to operate maintenance tools and equipment safely.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Must have the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English in order to understand safety instructions, respond to work orders, and interact with staff and vendors.
Physical Requirements:
* Physical stamina to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects as needed.
* Ability to lift and move heavy items (up to 100 lbs).
* Ability to work off of lifts and ladders of various heights.
* Ability to work in various weather conditions (for outdoor maintenance tasks).
* Comfortable working with tools, machinery, and sometimes hazardous materials.
Additional Notes:
* The position may require on-call hours or emergency response outside of regular work hours, especially in the event of urgent repairs or for snow removal.
* The maintenance professional will be required to obtain a boiler operator license within the first year.
