Job Title: Technology Director MACCRAY Schools (Maynard, Clara City, & Raymond)
School District: MACCRAY Schools
Reports To: Superintendent
Salary: $50,000-$60,000 and negotiable
Benefits: negotiable
Position Summary:
The Technology Director is a forward-thinking, highly organized leader responsible for planning, implementing, maintaining, and securing the comprehensive technology infrastructure and programs that support staff and student success within the MACCRAY School District. This includes supporting students, teachers, and staff in achieving instructional and operational goals through the effective use of technology and ensuring technology aligns with the evolving needs of the community and the strategic goals of the district.
Essential Duties:
The Technology Director provides vision, leadership, and support for all aspects of educational and operational technology in the district. The Director ensures technology aligns with educational needs, manages budgeting and purchasing, promotes effective technology integration, and is responsible for infrastructure management, cybersecurity, device deployment, staff training, and compliance with state and federal requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technology Planning and Management:
- Oversee the development, implementation, and management of the district's technology plan ensuring program quality.
- Develop and manage the maintenance and support of technology infrastructure, including devices, servers, networks, software, and phone system.
- Oversee the operation of technology programs, including device deployment, software updates, and network security.
- Budget and Finance:
- Manage the technology budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability.
- Oversees the evaluation, selection and purchasing of all district technology.
- Identify and pursue funding opportunities to support technology initiatives.
- Works with ERATE coordination service provider to manage budget and projects
- Device and User Support:
- Manage the preparation, distribution, repair, and collection of student and staff devices.
- Provide ongoing troubleshooting and technical support to students, staff, and administration.
- Coordinate onboarding of new students and staff, including device provisioning and account setup.
- Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure all technology practices adhere to local, state, and federal regulations.
- Prepare reports and recommendations related to technology needs and upgrades to the Superintendent and school board.
- Educational Technology Leadership
- Collaborate with administrative and site-level tech committees to plan and evaluate technology integration and infrastructure.
- Researches best practices and products to meet and support the technology needs, mission and objectives of the district.
- Models the effective use of technology throughout the district for teachers and students.
- Position Demands:
- This position requires ability to work in both an office setting as well as providing support throughout the school.
- Occasional work outside of regular school hours will be required.
- Other Duties:
- Manage technology for live streaming events.
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Associate Degree and/or BA/BS preferred
- Experience:
- Experience in school or public-sector technology preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple programs and responsibilities effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding in network administration, device management, software applications, and cybersecurity.
