JOB TITLE: Executive Director of Academic Services DEPARTMENT: Academic Services REPORTS TO: Superintendent SUMMARY: Plans and directs the development and implementation of educational services for all students; provides supervision and leadership to school principals; develops, implements, and evaluates a common curriculum for all grades and levels. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This class specifi cation lists the major duties and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive. Incumbent(s) may be expected to perform job-related duties other than those contained in this document and may be required to have specific job-related knowledge and skills. * Provides strategic leadership, supervision, and support to school principals to ensure eff ective instructional leadership, operational management, and alignment with district goals and initiatives. * Develops and directs the implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for the department; directs the preparation and administration of the department&#8217;s budget. * Manages assigned staff, and assigns tasks, programmatic responsibilities, and projects; evaluates performance, resolves workload and technical issues, and ensures that goals are defi ned and achieved; develops staff skills and training plans, and conducts performance evaluations. * Oversees the development and implementation of staff development and mentorship activities. * Develops and oversees the curriculum review process, including the integration of student and program evaluation results. * Provides leadership in the integration of innovation, design, and learning. * Coordinates with the Special Education Department to provide modifi ed curriculum, instruction, and assessment opportunities for special needs students. * Supports and monitors an assessment system that provides accountability, is useful to classroom teachers, and that emphasizes relationships between curriculum, instruction, and assessment. * Maintains a record of staff assignments and changes in workloads and projects long range staff needs within the department. * Communicates regularly with Building Principals on matters related to curriculum, instruction, assessment, and reporting. * Communicates vision, goals, and project updates to a variety of stakeholders, including department staff , school leaders, teachers, union leaders, parents, students, and community members. * Serves as the liaison on curriculum, instruction, and assessment matters with the School Board through the Superintendent. * Completes reports and make presentations to various audiences. * Assumes responsibility as Acting Superintendent during the Superintendent&#8217;s absence, ensuring continuity of leadership and district operations. * Creates systems and processes to support team leaders in daily management of projects and the construction of benchmarks and metrics to report regularly on progress and make needed adjustments to work plans. * Responds to and implements state legislation aff ecting the educational program. * Develops and maintains a calendar of teaching and learning activities. * Promotes and supports the overall mission of the District by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with public and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and eff ective workplace environment. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and Experience: * Master&#8217;s degree in Education, Statistics, or a closely related field. * Five (5) years of professional administrative experience in public education research and evaluation. * OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation. * Driver&#8217;s license. * Superintendent&#8217;s license from the State of Minnesota. * Principal&#8217;s license from the State of Minnesota, preferred. JOB TITLE:  Executive Director of Academic Services
DEPARTMENT: Academic Services    
REPORTS TO:  Superintendent

SUMMARY:
Plans and directs the development and implementation of educational services for all students; provides supervision and leadership to school principals; develops, implements, and evaluates a common curriculum for all grades and levels.
