The Special Education Lead Teacher collaborates with the Special Education Supervisor for the application of the appropriate curriculum and the instructional programs for students with disabilities and complies with all federal, state, and district due process, policies, and procedures. The Special Education Lead Teacher may be assigned to one secondary school or two elementary schools to work in conjunction with the Supervisor and building Administration. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Leader in Communication * Serves as liaison between Special Education Supervisor and building staff * Participates in lead teacher meetings and disseminates information to special education building staff as needed * Reviews new student files and follows the defined process to assign a case manager * Serves as building liaison for transition and transfer cases * Coordinates and creates the agenda for building department meetings * Communicates areas of need and critical information to the Special Education Supervisor Leader in Instruction and Assessment * Serves as a curricular and assistive technology resource for building staff * Coordinates and supports building due process training and compliance * Serves as the building contact and resource for Progress Monitoring * Assists with planning Professional Development for Licensed Staff * Assists with the planning/scheduling of special education state-wide assessments * Assists with the coordination/facilitation of student intervention brainstorming meetings Leader in Building * Facilitates scheduling of non-licensed staff in the assigned building(s) * Collaborates for scheduling of student groups and master schedule * Coordinates with clerical staff on scheduling staffing days * Conducts at least 3 monthly SpEd meetings in collaboration with Supervisor/Director * Coordinate the welcoming and onboarding of new non-licensed staff * Assists with day-to-day problem solving * Meet regularly with Building Administration * Serves as administrative designee at IEP meetings as assigned by Special Education Supervisor Other duties as assigned PHYSICAL FACTORS: * Frequent: walking, standing, sitting, hearing, talking, and seeing BENEFITS: We offer a comprehensive benefits package for employees working a minimum of 30 hours per week*.
