LONG TERM SCHOOL NURSE SUBSTITUTE
Minneota Public Schools is seeking applications for a long term School Nurse Substitute. Come join an excellent group of hard working, caring, and talented staff members in our 600 student district!
POSITION SUMMARY
The School Nurse will provide PreK-12 students with health/nursing services. The School Nurse will offer services to students and provide resources and support to health services and social-emotional well-being. The School Nurse will work closely with other staff members – including another part-time School Nurse - and also maintain a relationship with the students’ families.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others.
- Current Minnesota PreK-12 Public School Nurse license.
- Degree in Nursing.
- Experience working in an education setting.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN), Public Health Nurse (PHN), and/or Licensed School Nurse (LSN) in accordance with the Minnesota Board of Nursing.
- Skill in communicating with students, parents, co-workers, supervisors, and the community in a positive and responsive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances effective work relationships.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assists in promoting programs on health-education and immunization.
- Conduct vision, hearing, and early childhood screenings, and other screenings periodically as assigned.
- Delegate nursing functions as necessary, with appropriate assessment, teaching, monitoring, and supervision according to the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act.
- Maintains medical and other records, including immunizations, physical examinations, medical conditions, and related services.
- Maintain the nurse’s office and medical/nursing supplies.
- Provides emergency aid to students and school staff.
- Provides support to meet the needs of all the students in PreK-grade 12.
- Responsible for early detection of physical problems and health evaluations.
- Responsible for medication administration, health care procedures, and the development of health care plans.
- Responsible for professional, medical treatment of students.
SALARY/CONTRACT
A competitive compensation and benefits package will be negotiated based upon the successful candidate’s background and experience. At a minimum, the position will be for 7 hours per day for the full term of the long term substitute placement. The position will begin on August 11, 2025 and will be for 12 weeks, ending on or around the first week in November 2025.
