Job Summary
* Under the guidance of the building principal, the Licensed Teacher supports student learning through a range of instructional responsibilities, including:
* Developing lesson plans and delivering district-approved curriculum
* Teaching students using planned lessons and instructional materials
* Assessing student progress to ensure alignment with learning goals and outcomes
* Collaborating with colleagues, administrators, parents, and support staff to meet student needs, address concerns, and contribute to school and district initiatives
Assignment: Certified
Essential Functions
* Delivers engaging classroom instruction aligned with district curriculum and learning goals
* Adjusts lessons and difficulty levels based on student needs and performance
* Uses a variety of teaching methods to support diverse learners and promote success
* Regularly assesses student progress and modifies instruction as needed
* Plan lessons, materials, and activities that align with curriculum standards
* Maintains a clean, organized, and supportive learning environment
* Evaluates student work, creates assessments, and communicates progress through parent-teacher conferences
* Promotes a structured and respectful classroom culture with clear behavioral expectations
* Provides guidance to instructional support staff and collaborates with colleagues to improve teaching practices
* Participates in committees, staff meetings, IEP meetings, and professional development
* Stays current with educational trends and instructional technologies
* Supports the school community by offering expertise and contributing to school-wide initiatives
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Understands effective teaching strategies, classroom practices, and instructional approaches
* Knowledgeable about child and adolescent development and learning needs
* Stays current with educational trends, technology, and teaching methods
* Familiar with assessment tools, grading, and evaluating student progress
* Strong content knowledge in Social Studies relevant to junior and senior high students
* Able to use district technology for record-keeping, communication, and instruction
* Experienced with lesson planning, classroom management, and curriculum alignment
* Skilled at presenting complex topics in ways students can understand
* Proficient in using instructional tools and technology to support learning
* Communicates well with students, families, and staff to support student success
* Works collaboratively to address student needs, resolve issues, and improve instruction
* Can contribute to curriculum development and provide input on teaching strategies
Supervision of Other Employees: While this position does not entail direct supervision of other employees, it does provide indirect supervision for the Paraprofessional(s) in the classroom.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Education and a relevant instructional subject area(s).
License: Licensed in the State of Minnesota in the instructional area.
Experience: Minimum completion of an assigned internship/practice teaching experience and degree program.
