POSITION AVAILABLE: Teacher of the Visually Impaired or Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) Long-term Substitute
POSITION LOCATION: SWWC Service Cooperative with placement in the member districts of the SWWC.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
* Teacher of the Visually Impaired - identifies, designs, evaluates and implements appropriate educational programs for individual visually impaired students ages 0-22.
* COMS - identifies, evaluates, designs, and implements appropriate plans for students with vision loss in order to assist them in learning how they can move through their daily environment safely and independently, assists with IEP development, and is a member of the Child Study Team.
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
* Teacher of the Visually Impaired - Bachelor’s Degree with Teacher of the Visually Impaired licensure or eligible for licensure from Minnesota Department of Education. The applicant must also have a valid Driver’s License.
* COMS - Bachelor’s Degree and moderate experience in a job-related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a job-related field; Completion of an AVCREP approved university O & M Certification Program; Certification in Minnesota as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist is required. The applicant must also have a valid Driver’s License.
CONTRACT/SALARY: Approximately 18 days starting at the end of November over a 12-week duration. Beginning salary depending upon education, qualifications, and experience but will range between $4,943 - $9,143. Travel is required.
