SUMMARY: Supervises student nutrition services for the district; assists in development and implementation of the department policies and procedures for the student nutrition programs, and auxiliary services. Develops and coordinates all Special Diet accommodations with school nurses, parents, students, and kitchen personnel. Supervises kitchen management and staff. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This class specification lists the major duties and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive. Monitor departments' budget goals and resources in a responsible manner. Use Meals Per Labor Hours to analyze kitchen labor hours with meal participation to effectively use labor in a sustainable way. * Develops and provides oversight of best practices for cash management in student meal programs and all auxiliary services. * Supervises assigned staff; assigns tasks, responsibilities, and projects; evaluates performance, resolves workload and technical issues, and assures that goals are communicated and achieved. * Leads hiring of new staff such as interviewing, orientation and training of new staff after determining the needs of each site using Meals Per Labor Hour documentation * Assists staff reviews and staff issues by conducting meetings and monitoring staffing challenges and performance. * Provides constant support to all SN Supervisors and Managers with ordering, staff management, decision-making and communication, filling in on the floor as needed. * Evaluates and updates established school nutrition policies and procedures. * Monitors and reviews current rules/regulations for school nutrition; communicates changes to staff, customers & community. * Conducts monthly kitchen supervisor meetings communicating departmental needs, changes, budgets, and goals. * Identifies, organizes, and implements procurement processes of all departmental operations; develops and maintains positive vendor relationships; complies with District, federal, state, and local regulations & requirements. * Develops order guides * MSFBG (Minnesota School Food Buying Group) * Farm to School * Maintains positive vendor relationships and communication; works to arrange procurement challenges with supply chain difficulty * Provides oversight of department HACCP food safety plans; works closely with HACCP auditor and Health Department to ensure compliance and necessary record-keeping. * Collaboratively creates and promotes a nutrition education program for both students and adults within the community. * Analyzes facility and equipment needs and procures necessary equipment. * Coordinates equipment maintenance * ? 10 school kitchens + Wetlands Cafe and Quick Bites * ? Works with USDA Clicks program to monitor commodity funds. * Creates promotional and informational nutrition fact sheets for the School Child Nutrition program for distribution to students, staff and community. * Assists with communication of the District&#8217;s Wellness Policy to students, staff, parents. * Promotes and supports the overall mission of the District by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with the public and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment. * Manages and coordinates Auxiliary Services for the department- Vending, Concessions, Catering, Use of Kitchen Facilities, Wetlands Cafe. * Maintains Inventory Management - working with software for staff and auditors to ensure that inventory levels are maintained and accurate. * Manages Special Diets within the district; ensures that each student with a special diet has the appropriate menu accommodations; works with staff of the school nutrition department, school nurse and each family individually regarding their special dietary accommodation. * Creates and manages Special Diet Nutrient Analysis; Creates nutrient analysis reports for all school nurses to use for caloric needs to administer medication. * Co-Develops Summer Programming for the Nutrition Department, collaborating with all other departments to provide summer meals * Assists with Vended Sites; works with directors of each program; coordinates service needs of their programs * Performs Back to School training for student nutrition staff and managers. Conducts Orientation for new employees and assists with cashier training. Help create a menu for all District Back to School picnic. Helps prepare, serve, and coordinate picnic tasks. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
