Position Overview:
Hispanic Family Liaison - 194 days per year, 8 hours/day
Bargaining Unit: Individual contract
Salary Range: Individual contract, $46,000 - $53,000 per year
Job Summary:
The Hispanic Liaison serves as a vital bridge between Hispanic families and the school district by facilitating culturally responsive communication, supporting student success, and fostering strong community relationships. This role promotes active family involvement in the educational process, collaborates with school staff and support teams, and connects families with relevant resources to ensure equitable access to education and opportunities for Hispanic students.This position reports directly to the Equity and Family Engagement Coordinator with dotted reporting to administration.
The essential functions of this job include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental job duties.
Key Responsibilities:
* Serve as the primary communication liaison between Hispanic families and school personnel to foster understanding and engagement.
* Promote and encourage family participation in school events, parent-teacher conferences, and academic support meetings.
* Provide cultural and language support during student and family meetings to ensure inclusive and effective communication.
* Collaborate with student support teams and educators to implement strategies that promote positive learning behaviors and academic success.
* Assist families in accessing school and community resources, including educational, health, and social services.
* Support students’ social-emotional well-being by participating in re-entry meetings following absences, disciplinary actions, or transitions.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with community organizations to create opportunities for post-secondary pathways, service learning, and student enrichment.
* Facilitate student engagement groups and assist in organizing school and family engagement activities in partnership with school principals and building teams.
* Act as a liaison across district schools (elementary and secondary) to align services and ensure continuity of support for students and families.
* Report in a dotted-line structure to building administrators to maintain alignment with site-specific goals and student needs.
* Partner with other district divisions and colleagues to ensure effective processes and procedures are in place to execute services and supports.
* Provide, create, and/or assist with training and capacity-building opportunities for staff and families, as needed.
* Work collaboratively with district leadership, school staff, and external stakeholders to advocate for and support the needs of Hispanic students and their families.
* Must be able to be flexible with scheduling and attendance within the community and other events on evenings and weekends.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* B.A. or B.S. in education, behavioral sciences or related field
* Experience with various cultural family systems
* Experience working with students and families in an equity / cultural role
* Ability to inspire and motivate students
* Effective communication skills
* Ability to influence staff in areas of educational equity, inclusion and relevance
* Ability to maintain professional composure while dealing with a variety of personalities, situations, and stress
* Ability to utilize technology in learning opportunities
* Ability to keep information confidential

* Bi-lingual speaker

* Must be willing to and able to Assist in the following conditions: busy, noisy, with interruptions from staff, students, administrators and/or supervisor.

* Family & Community Engagement: Expertise in promoting active family involvement and building strong connections between home, school, and community.
* Problem-Solving & Resource Coordination: Ability to assess needs and connect families with appropriate internal and external resources.
* Training & Facilitation: Experience in developing and delivering training sessions or workshops for staff, students, or families.
* Student Advocacy: Strong commitment to equity and the ability to advocate for the academic, social, and emotional needs of Hispanic students.
* Organizational Skills: Capable of managing multiple responsibilities, maintaining accurate records, and supporting event planning or coordination.
* Adaptability & Initiative: Proactive and flexible in responding to changing needs, student circumstances, and evolving district priorities.
* Knowledge of Educational Systems: Familiarity with school district operations, student support processes, and policies impacting underserved populations.
