Position: Paraprofessional-Highly Qualified
Job Description: Paraprofessionals assist students and teachers with the daily operations of the school, and may be assigned to specific classrooms
Paraprofessionals generally work in an inclusionary setting (i.e. least restrictive environment). The paraprofessional assists the general education teacher with daily classroom activities to help students who may need individual or small group academic or behavioral support.
Qualifications:
* 2 years of college or meets the requirements of a “highly qualified” paraprofessional as defined in Federal law
* High School Diploma required
* A willingness to work hard and maintain a positive, professional attitude and demeanor.
* A commitment to teamwork, service, leadership, and professional growth.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Cultivating their own sense of wonder through self-initiated and Academy-directed learning.
* Modeling virtuous habits among the students through interactions and personal example.
* Consultation and collaboration with Regular Education Teachers, Interventionists and Administration to ensure all students’ needs are being addressed.
* Assisting students in achieving academic success.
* Working with students who may be aggressive or disruptive in class.
* Personal care.
* Social integration.
* All other duties may be assigned per the Employee Handbook.
* The salary for this position will be in accordance with the Great Oaks Academy standard hourly rate for paraprofessionals and according to experience.
