Mounds View Adult Basic Education/GED teacher is responsible for a multi-level class of adult learners. The classes are held in the mornings, and in the evening as a structured as independent study. Position is responsible for instructing a cohort of adult learners in reading, writing, social studies, math and science.
Qualifications:
* Valid MN K-12 teaching license, preferably in a science field.
* Strong communication and organizational skills. A history of taking projects from conception to productive execution. The desire and ability to work well in a team environment.
* Adaptability to a team environment, flexibility, and proficiency in multiple teaching models.
* Previous experience working with teens or adult learners in an interactive, results-orientated environment preferred.
* Ability to adapt teaching methods based on students’ strengths and weaknesses and prepare students to take the test to earn a high school equivalency credential.
* Ability to be curious, flexible, and function well in a busy environment with high expectations for students and staff.
* Digital literacy skills required, including integration of digital literacy into the student learning experience
Responsibilities:
* Lesson planning and instruction, monitoring student attendance, collaborating with other staff, and integrating technology into learning.
* Students’ educational level and skills are assessed before they enter these programs.
* Teachers may conduct additional assessments, monitor student goals, and develop an education plan.
* Teachers must formally evaluate their students periodically to determine their progress.
