For more than 120 years, we have stood for academic excellence, character development, and community leadership in the Twin Ports. Today, 60% of our students receive grants or aid, thanks to the enduring generosity of those who believe in our mission. We seek a visionary, dynamic, and relational leader to serve as our next Director of Advancement and Growth &#8212; a pivotal role charged with nurturing our culture of philanthropy, strengthening our enrollment pipeline, and expanding our Hilltopper community. This individual will be the heartbeat of Marshall&#8217;s growth and generosity, inspiring alumni, parents, grandparents, donors, and prospective families to invest in a future where every student can lead, learn, and thrive. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of strategic acumen, storytelling brilliance, and community-building spirit, working collaboratively with the Board of Trustees, school leadership, and broader community to ensure Marshall&#8217;s bright future. ________________________________ Key Responsibilities Development & Philanthropy * Design and lead innovative fundraising strategies that fuel Marshall&#8217;s mission &#8212; including annual giving, major gifts, capital campaigns, and grant initiatives. * Inspire a culture of giving across all constituencies, making philanthropy accessible and meaningful for families of all backgrounds. * Build and deepen relationships with alumni, foundations, and community stakeholders, securing transformative support for current and future Hilltoppers. * Oversee donor tracking, stewardship, and reporting through Veracross, ensuring transparency, accountability, and gratitude at every touchpoint. * Manage gift processing and reconciliation in partnership with the Business Office. * Lead signature fundraising events, including the annual gala auction, creating moments of celebration and community pride. Enrollment Management & Growth * Partner closely with the Admissions Office to elevate visibility through compelling outreach, marketing, and communications efforts. * Design experiences that authentically showcase the magic of a Marshall education. * Leverage data insights to inform marketing and pipeline development strategies.. Leadership & Strategic Collaboration * Provide mission-centered leadership for advancement and marketing, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and joyful service. * Align departmental goals with Marshall&#8217;s long-term strategic vision. * Serve as a trusted partner to the Head of School, Administration Team, and Board of Trustees in advancing key initiatives. * Lead the Advancement Committee of the Board, offering vision, expertise, and energy to elevate our advancement efforts. Communications & Community Engagement * Coordinate press releases, media events, and communication strategies that highlight Marshall&#8217;s achievements and impact. * Serve as a passionate ambassador for Marshall School, forging relationships across local, regional, and national platforms. * Represent Marshall with professionalism, warmth, and authenticity, always advocating for the power of education to change lives. Budget & Operational Stewardship * Develop and steward advancement and marketing budgets with strategic foresight and fiscal responsibility. * Supervise, coach, and support staff, ensuring that every team member has the tools, training, and inspiration to excel. ________________________________ The Ideal Candidate The Director of Advancement and Growth is a passionate, results-oriented leader who: * Believes deeply in the transformative power of education and community. * Thrives in building relationships with a wide range of constituents. * Brings strategic planning expertise, creative storytelling, and operational excellence to fundraising and enrollment initiatives. * Embodies integrity, transparency, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. * Operates with high energy, emotional intelligence, and a collaborative spirit. * Excels in managing systems like Veracross (or is eager to learn) and embraces data-driven decision making. * Brings experience in advancement, communications, enrollment, or related fields (Independent School or Higher Education experience preferred). * Is available for occasional evening and weekend events and willing to travel locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally as needed. Qualifications * Bachelor&#8217;s degree required; Master&#8217;s degree preferred. * Minimum of five years of experience in advancement, communications, marketing, or related fields preferred. * Prior success in fundraising, donor cultivation, sales, or enrollment growth are highly valued. * Strong leadership, communication, strategic thinking, and fiscal management skills. * Experience working with CRM systems like Veracross is a plus. Physical Requirements * Ability to assist with events such as open houses, reunions, and homecoming celebrations. Target Salary * Range $80,000 - $120,000 dependent on experience
