Learning Support Paraprofessional
SUMMARY:
Provides students with intervention opportunities in reading, math, and writing; supports full classroom learning experiences; monitors student progress.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
This class specification lists the major duties and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive. Incumbent(s) may be expected to perform job-related duties other than those contained in this document and may be required to have specific job-related knowledge and skills.
* Works with the whole class under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
* Reinforces the instructional plan laid out by the classroom teacher.
* Provides instructional assistance and motivate students in the areas of math, reading, and language.
* Facilitates and delivers practice activities designed to enrich and extend learning.
* Assists teacher with classroom activities; leads breakout sessions.
* Collaborates with students to create a safe, positive learning environment.
* Monitors and reports progress of individual students to teachers.
* Supports adaptations in the learning environment based on observation of student performance and engagement.
* Other duties or tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis.
* Promotes and supports the overall mission of the District by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with public and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.
* Supervise and support multiple groups of students working asynchronously and independently on class assignments posted to Canvas, ensuring a focused and productive learning environment.
* Manage a caseload of up to 6 students identified through the MTSS process; deliver targeted Tier 2 interventions (check & connect etc.) and progress monitor to support attendance & behavioral growth.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and Experience:
* Two (2) years post-secondary education OR a passing ParaPro Score.
* Two (2) years of curriculum support experience.
* OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.
