Zion Lutheran School in Mayer serves students in preschool - 8th grade. Zion Lutheran School is seeking a full-time Assistant Administrator/Teacher for the upcoming school year. MAJOR JOB DUTIES:
The Assistant Administrator’s position at Zion Lutheran School has been created as a result of the ever expanding administrative responsibilities that occur at the school. It is intended that this position exist to better serve our staff, students, and their families. The Assistant Administrator role will serve as part-time teacher, athletic director, and will work closely with the School Administrator in all matters, supporting and encouraging the Administrator in the workload.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Serve as a member of the teaching team, ensuring that an overall vision of distinct academic excellence is fostered and maintained.
2. Administer all athletic programs to allow students to use and enhance their God-given talents.
3. Be the “face” of the athletic program and help promote the congregational mission of Sharing hope, teaching Christ and school sub-mission of Christ centered, academic excellence, and respectfully operated in a harmonious and enthusiastic manner.
4. Serve the congregation as an example of Christian conduct; to endeavor earnestly to live in Christian unity with the members of the congregation, fellow workers, and sister congregations in the Synod; and by the grace of God to do everything possible for the edification of the congregation and the up-building of the church in Christ.
SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES
1. Teach approximately half of the school day
2. Serve as Athletic Director
3. Supervises the use of the school facilities and serves as the contact person for reserving and renting out of the school facility.
4. Coordinates service projects for students and staff and serves as the point person for field trips.
5. Serves as Department Head for grades 5-8, which includes assisting in evaluating members of the teaching staff and administering meetings.
6. Assists the School Administrator with student discipline.
7. Serve as Administrator in the absence of the school administrator.
8. Attends continuing education opportunities such as conferences, seminars, and classes which may further the ministry at Zion, and which meet with the approval of the Board of School Ministry and/or Church Council.
9. Keeps all practice in harmony with the constitution and by-laws of Zion Lutheran Church, Mayer, Minnesota.

1. Accepts and supports the Old and New Testaments as the inspired word of God and is willing to uphold the confessional teachings of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod, particularly those presented in Luther’s Small Catechism.
2. Has a bachelor’s degree in education and a current MN teaching license.
3. Has distinct, administrative and leadership abilities.
4. Is passionate about people and Zion’s ministry and the power of God’s Word to work in their lives.
5. Appreciates and values team ministry.
6. Maintains and models healthy boundaries in family and work.
