New Century School is an innovative STEM Public Charter School (PreK - 11) located near the MN State Fairgrounds in St. Paul. Position: Middle/High School Academic Counselor The academic counselor reports directly to the school&#8217;s Director. The academic counselor works with students in both middle and high school to address all students&#8217; emotional/behavioral, academic, and career development needs. The academic counselor will implement a comprehensive school counseling program that promotes and enhances high student achievement. The academic counselor shall promote equity and access to opportunities and rigorous educational experiences for all students. Qualifications: * Bachelor&#8217;s Degree required. Masters preferred * Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills * Ability to act professionally and diplomatically with faculty, staff, students, and parents * Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills * Excellent organization skills and attention to detail * Ability to juggle several projects at once with a spirit of flexibility and a positive outlook Performance Responsibilities: * Advise, guide and mentor students as they pursue educational and career opportunities * Provide individual planning and small group support for students * Provide resources for students social-emotional and academic development * Assist with student assessment and testing * Help with High School Program Planning and Implementation * Collaborate with other school programs and departments such as Student Support Services, ELL, SPED and Title I. * Assist with the developing and maintenance of student schedules * Manage and maintain student academic records * Use data to support and guide students * Perform other duties as assigned.
