Lead Preschool Teacher (ages 3-5) .5 FTE Full job description A part-time position (.5 FTE) is open for a Lead Preschool Teacher (ages 3-5) to support and care for children at St. Michael Catholic School for the 2025-2026 academic year. You will feel welcome and supported among a collaborative, hard-working and experienced group of educators as we bring academics and faith into children's lives. Primary Responsibilities: * Establish and maintain a positive classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the developmental age and interest of all students * Be responsible for instruction of curriculum in assigned classes * Organize and plan lessons * Ensure student safety and supervision at all times * Maintain rules and procedures for classroom behavior that result in a positive and fair learning environment * Demonstrate effective, appropriate student-management skills * Assess student learning on a regular basis and provide progress reports to parents using a variety of assessment tools and portfolios * Maintain current and accurate records as required by law and school policies * Communicate effectively with parents/guardians * Conduct conferences as scheduled throughout the school year * Participate in staff development opportunities per DHS licensing requirements * Attend required meetings and events including staff meetings, open houses, workshop days, committee meetings, school programs, conferences and any other meetings deemed necessary by the principal or preschool director * Promote preschool through family activities and school functions * Be flexible with scheduling and willing to work between the hours of 7:30-12:30 pm Monday/Wednesday/Friday * Other responsibilities identified as needed by the preschool director Qualifications and Requirements * Bachelor&#8217;s Degree in Education (Early Childhood Degree preferred) or Associates Degree in Child Development and 1,560 hours of experience * Ability to pass required background checks (DHS background study and fingerprints required) * Familiar with the Catholic faith * Work effectively and collegially with others * Work independently * Learn and implement current instructional strategies * Manage a classroom of students effectively * Ability to take direction from the preschool director and principal * Complete initial preschool orientation and Virtus training (once hired) * CPR and First Aid Training (within 90 days of hire) Benefits * 403b retirement plan with employer matching up to 3% of your contribution * Mentorship and support from strong teaching community and school administration * Professional development opportunities * An active Catholic community with a shared focus on doing good and bringing the faith to life St. Michael Catholic School is located in downtown Prior Lake, and is about 20 minutes from Bloomington and Burnsville.
